Autumn is one of the most beautiful seasons in Andalusia, and without a doubt brings all Granada’s magic to the fore. There is something in the air, the light, the perfume of lime trees on the squares, or maybe the sun, as its last rays set gently over the Alhambra...

"Convinced night after night by the ancient crescent moon of Granada that he is a thief - the water-thief tumbles, falls, bubbles up and tumbles down again."
Juan Ramón Jiménez, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1956, visited Granada in the AUTUMN of 1924. Federico García Lorca and Manuel de Falla were his hosts.
The days he spent in Granada made a strong impression on him ( "This journey has been decisive for me" - he would go on to say) and would be the inspiration for a beautiful book of poems called "Olvidos de Granada" (forgotten moments of Granada), that summed up the essence of his visit.
From a 16th century building at Carrera del Darro no. 13, a hotel is born. It brings together the essence of Jimenez's journey and takes its name from the title of one of his magical poems.
The Ladrón de Agua aims to be a place where Granada residents can come together with the romantic travellers who come to our city in search of its magic.
Olvidos de Granada is the poet's journey from Granada to the very interior of his existence, and this journey is made through water. Water, in turn, is the symbol of Granada, whether in her fountains, ponds or flowing along the "River of Gold" that runs at the foot of our hotel.
Perhaps this is why the Water-Thief lives hidden beneath a small stone fountain in the hotel's beautiful Renaissance courtyard. Although you cannot see him, you will know he exists when you look at the water that bubbles up, overflows and gently disappears, converted into music by this mysterious being.
"Water was my blood, my life, and I heard the music of my life and my blood in the flowing water." (Olvidos, El regante granadí - The Granada waterer)
Juan Ramón is an Andalusian of the world. Granada is a city of the world. This hotel aims to be a place of encounter for travellers of the world - offering the space and time to develop one's sensibilities.
The hotel has a privileged location in the heart of Granada, at the foot of the Albayzín neighbourhood (World Heritage Site), where the Darro River curves to enter Plaza Nueva . It's rooms are flooded with the light of the Alhambra, finished with attention to detail and full of history; its peaceful colonnaded courtyard; its lounge, hall and old Moorish cistern. here you will find the charm of running water, refreshing peace and quiet and time for self-discovery.
... And the plaited opaline fountain,., enchanted everything with its endless song, as if we had been looking on to see, together in music Manuel de Falla (who could not remember ever having seen the fountain.) and in theatre, Federico García Lorca (who was there with me, full and categorical.).
The building is made up of a large hall, cistern, interior courtyard, lounge-library and fifteen rooms. In the entrance hall ("zaguán"), you will find the hotel reception, living area and the coffee bar. The old Nasrid cistern has been turned into a dining room.
The courtyard is open to the Granada sky and flanked by marble Tuscan columns to form a gallery. It is designed both to be admired and to be lived, whether reading or writing, enjoying a glass of wine in intimate or lively company, having dinner beneath the stars or listening to guitar and voice, or simply to the silence.
