PROGRAMME:
Día 1:
Arrival, a warm welcome to the "El Ladrón de Agua" Hotel. Visit to the Alhambra palace and the Generalife gardens.
Día 2:
Guided excursion to "Los Cahorros", in Sierra Nevada (3 walking hours, moderate level, total time: 6 hours).
Just 8km far away from Granada, we will find one of the most spectacular places in the city’s surroundings: "Los Cahorros". It is an outstanding narrow mountain pass with steep cliffs, stone tunnels and waterfalls. We will cross its famous suspension bridge and pass through a natural tunnel, "la Cueva de las Palomas" (the Pigeon’s Cave), along thorny bushes to finally reach the fountain of "Las Chorreras". To get our strength back, nothing better than a picnic in the countryside to rest, talk and share experiences.
Optional: a flamenco show or a tapas tour in the evening
Día 3:
Free day to sightsee the city or the Alhambra (if not possible on the arrival day) This day we suggest you a perfect guided walk out of the city (optional):
Valparaíso Route (3 hours walking, easy level, total time: 5-6 hours, price: 145 euros includes meal in restaurant )
Setting out from the hotel on foot we will enjoy a delightful walk following the Alhambra’s "Acequia Real" (Royal Irrigation Channel). We walk beneath the Generalife (Alhambra SUMMER palace) with spectacular views of the ancient Albaicin and Sacromonte neighbourhoods. After crossing the Darro river, we will return to Granada on a different trail, and walk the length of the Sacromonte, with its historic cave-houses. For lunch we will enjoy a quality regional menu at a cave-bar and later, we can take a stroll through the winding white-walled streets of the Albaicín to finally return to the hotel.
